Washington Capitals forward Joel Ward isn't asking for a trade, but he is intrigued by the prospect of being dealt prior to Monday's deadline.

“I’ve never been traded before, I’m just curious to see what that feeling would be like,” Ward told reporters Thursday. “What goes through your head? I just never had that feeling before.”

The Chicago Blackhawks have reportedly asked about Ward, a source told Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago.

Ward is in the final season of a four-year deal signed in 2011 and has 14 goals and 11 assists in 63 games.

The Capitals have reportedly discussed a potential trade for Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp, as the Chicago Tribune's Chris Kuc reported Thursday.

Ward said coping with a potential deal would be difficult.

“What happens? All of a sudden you get shipped out. Where’s your mind at? What happens to your place? What if you have kids or a dog?

"That’s the hardest thing. I think about others. You can be right in the middle of something. You could be buying a house. I don’t like that. All of a sudden it’s like, you’re gone.”
