Flames' Giordano a surprise inclusion for warmup; out Friday vs. Islanders

Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano was a welcomed surprise for warmup Friday on Long Island, but will not feature in the lineup versus the New York Islanders.

Giordano suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury in the dying seconds of Calgary's 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday.

The defenseman appeared uncomfortable during the skate and lacked zip on his shot, according to reports.

Though no concrete timetable was placed on his potential return, it has to be considered encouraging to have Giordano back on the ice less than 24 hours after suffering the injury.
