Report: Parenteau, Gonchar expected back Saturday vs. Maple Leafs

James Guillory / USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Canadiens are expected to have veterans P-A Parenteau and Sergei Gonchar return Saturday versus the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to various reports.

Parenteau has been absent from the lineup since Jan. 15, his first year with the Canadiens derailed by concussion-like symptoms. He scored six goals and 15 points through the first three months of the season.

Gonchar has provided a reliable presence since coming over in a trade with the Dallas Stars. He owns a 61.1 Goals For percentage and 13 points in bottom-pairing role.

He suffered an upper-body injury in the Canadiens' last meeting with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Christian Thomas and Jarred Tinordi were sent down to Hamilton to make room on the active roster.
