Ovechkin becomes 5th player in NHL history to score 30 goals in 1st 10 seasons

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin joined an exclusive club Sunday.

Ovechkin scored a power-play goal midway through the first period against the St. Louis Blues, becoming the fifth player in NHL history to register 30 goals in his first 10 seasons.

Ovechkin's name can now be mentioned alongside four Hall of Fame forwards.

His 30th goal put him in sole possession of the league lead. He entered the game tied with New York Rangers winger Rick Nash, who has 29.

Ovechkin added another one in the second period, setting a franchise record for career games with multiple markers.
