Sabres held pointless in January, pushing limits of atrociousness

Rick Osentoski / USA TODAY Sports

There's bad, and then there's historically bad.

With another loss Friday night, the Buffalo Sabres were held pointless in the month of January, losing all 12 games in regulation and pushing their season-worst losing skid to 14 - which just happens to match their total number of wins.

Buffalo is now just three losses away from matching the league record for consecutive defeats, established by the expansion Washington Capitals and equaled by the 1992-93 San Jose Sharks

Up next, the Sabres meet the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday before heading out on the road to visit the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars.
