Canucks' Miller hoping to pass puck to right team in 1st meeting with Sabres

Ryan Miller is going to be careful with the puck when he faces the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

The Vancouver Canucks goaltender, set to play his old club for the first time since being traded to the St. Louis Blues last season, is hoping he'll be able to pass the puck to the players in the right jerseys.

"It's going to be a little bit strange," Miller admitted to Kevin Woodley of NHL.com. "I will pay special attention not to pass the puck towards the Buffalo symbol."

Miller, who signed a three-year deal with the Canucks as a free agent this past summer, added that while he identified as a Sabre for so long, it was definitely time to move on, especially considering Buffalo is well on its way to another last-place finish.

"I'm not a spring chicken, so I think in their plan they wanted players to develop with the group and the guys in that group are in their early 20s," he conceded. "It would have been nice to stay with one team, but for my career I wanted to keep it going."

Miller ranks sixth in the NHL with 23 wins as a Canuck, posting a .917 save percentage and five shutouts, and is in line to improve those numbers against his old teammates.

If he passes the puck to the right jerseys, that is.
