Ovechkin gets controversial double minor after being hit by Penguins' Ehrhoff

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Christian Ehrhoff left for the dressing room late in Wednesday's game against the Washington Capitals after attempting to hit Alex Ovechkin.

Ovechkin was hit by Ehrhoff into the boards with the Capitals leading the Penguins 4-0 in the third period.

Referee Tim Peel penalized Ovechkin with a double minor for roughing and holding, despite the fact the Ehrhoff initiated the hit.

The official was likely influenced by Ehrhoff's head landing on the ice, but the blue-liner was able to skate off under his own power.

It is the latest incident in a long history of questionable calls from Peel.

Penguins head coach Mike Johnston had no update on Ehrhoff's condition after the game.
