Hats rained down from the stands Thursday after Tampa Bay Lightning forward Cedric Paquette recorded his first career NHL hat trick.

Paquette scored twice on Detroit Red Wings netminder Petr Mrazek in the first period before capping the hat trick with a shorthanded goal midway through the second. He entered Thursday with six goals in 41 career contests.

Paquette knocked a rebound past Mrazek for his first goal 2:03 into the contest.

His second goal was a wicked wrist shot that put Tampa Bay ahead again late in the first period.

The 21-year-old then created a turnover and converted on an odd-man rush with teammate Ryan Callahan in the penalty box to complete the feat 11:03 into the second period.
