Kings' Toffoli cleared for contact Monday

Marc DesRosiers / USA Today

Los Angeles Kings forward Tyler Toffoli is apparently on track to return ahead of schedule.

The third-year winger told Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register he was cleared for contact prior to Monday's practice.

"Stick (teammate Justin Williams) was trying to bully me," he joked after the session.

Toffoli was diagnosed with mononucleosis and ruled out indefinitely on Jan. 10. He was given a recovery timetable of three-to-four weeks on Jan. 14.

The forward practiced in a non-contact capacity last week before joining his teammates for Monday's session.

Toffoli has scored 12 goals and added 15 assists in 41 games.
