The Chicago Blackhawks will recommence play following the All-Star break without the services of Kris Versteeg for an undetermined period of time.

The forward, who suffered a broken hand while blocking a shot at the Winter Classic on Jan. 1, has been placed on long-term injured reserve, the club announced Sunday.

Versteeg recorded nine goals, 18 assists and a plus-14 rating in 34 games prior to the injury.

Forward Dennis Rasmussen was subsequently recalled from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL after recording eight goals and eight assists in 44 minor-league games.
