GIF: Blue Jackets' goal disallowed after Rinne dislodges net

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno thought he scored his 17th goal of the season early in Monday's game against the Nashville Predators, but it was short-lived.

Foligno's first-period goal was waived off after officials ruled Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne knocked the net off its moorings unintentionally.

The NHL cited Rule 78.5, which states that apparent goals shall be disallowed when the net is displaced accidentally.

Whether or not it was accidental is a question only Rinne can answer, but Blue Jackets fans aren't happy about having the goal wiped out as a result.
