Marcus Foligno came to the defense of a teammate, and may be sidelined for quite some time as a result.

The Buffalo Sabres forward engaged in a round of fisticuffs with Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Bartkowski after the latter leveled Brian Gionta with a dangerous-looking hit.

Foligno is believed to have injured his hand in the fight.

After the game, Sabres head coach Ted Nolan indicated Foligno would be out of the lineup indefinitely.

Foligno recorded five goals, four assists and 43 penalty minutes in 28 games.
