Canucks' Hansen avoids serious scare after collapse

Vancouver Canucks winger Jannik Hansen may have avoided a major injury scare after he collapsed on the bench on Saturday night during a game against the Calgary Flames.

Hansen was taken to hospital as a precaution and later released. Head coach Willie Desjardins said everything appeared normal.

The forward did not practice Sunday, but he is not expected to miss a significant amount of time.

The Maple Leafs are struggling again

The Toronto Maple Leafs' six-game win streak from earlier this month is a distant memory.

The Chicago Blackhawks handed the Maple Leafs their third consecutive loss on Sunday, shutting out Toronto 4-0. The Leafs were outscored 11-4 on the weekend, including Saturday's 7-4 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Goaltender Jonathan Bernier was pulled Saturday after allowing all seven Flyers goals. Backup netminder James Reimer gave up four goals on 34 shots in the loss on Sunday.

Unfortunately, head coach Randy Carlyle didn't utter this Rob Schneider line from "The Waterboy" in either of the postgame scrums.

The Rangers certainly enjoy playing the Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are sick of seeing the New York Rangers.

The Rangers defeated the Hurricanes in back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday, earning a 3-2 shootout win in Raleigh and a 1-0 victory in regulation at Madison Square Garden.

New York also beat Carolina 2-1 in a game decided by the shootout back in October.

The Rangers are riding the longest active win streak in the NHL at six games (even if it has included wins over the Hurricanes, Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers). Carolina's 22 points through 33 games are better than only the Oilers, who have 21 in 34.

The Rangers face the Hurricanes just two more times in the regular season, but they've climbed back into the Eastern Conference playoff mix thanks to the soft stretch.
