VIDEO: Jonathan Toews, Brandon Dubinsky exchange blows

Russell LaBounty / USA TODAY Sports

Columbus Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky is a high-end shutdown center. His job often requires him to take on the role of agitator, to play the body hard, and to get under the skin of the other team's best player.

Dubinsky is very, very good at his job. Just ask Sidney Crosby.

On Saturday, Dubinsky's target was Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews. In the second period, Toews lost his cool and nearly got into a fight with Dubinsky. Toews was clearly prepared to go, but the on-ice officials jumped in and ended things before they got too serious:

The linesman just saved Dubinsky's life. Toews fight.

Dubinsky and Toews were both assessed two, two-minute minor penalties for slashing and roughing for their respective roles in this exchange.
