Red Wings' Howard day-to-day with lower-body injury

Detroit Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard will miss at least one game with a lower-body injury after leaving Friday's contest.

Howard is listed as day-to-day, but general manager Ken Holland told reporters the injury doesn't look serious. Detroit recalled Tom McCollum from the AHL to back up Petr Mrazek on Sunday when the Red Wings host the Colorado Avalanche.

Defenseman Xavier Ouellet was assigned to the AHL to make room for McCollum.
