December is becoming mumps month around the NHL.

The latest player to be quarantined and scheduled for testing is Lee Stempniak, the New York Rangers announced Thursday.

The virus also appears to be affecting the Rangers' AHL affiliate, as forward Joey Crabb and head coach Ken Gernander will be isolated and tested for mumps.

Stempniak, signed as a free agent this past summer, recorded five goals and seven assists in 26 games for the Rangers.
