Ales Hemsky scores 1st goal as a Star in 22nd game

Dallas Stars forward Ales Hemsky is more than eight percent of the way through the three-year, $12-million contract he signed with Dallas as an unrestricted free agent this summer. On Friday night, he finally scored his first goal in a Stars jersey.

Hemsky, 31, has been hilariously snake-bitten this season. Not only has he been the victim of unfortunate bounces on the offensive end of the rink, but it took the veteran playmaker 40 shots on goal to finally convert. His shooting percentage for the season now stands at 2.5 percent, which should regress toward his 10.8-percent career shooting clip over the balance of the season.

Though Hemsky has struggled offensively in the early going, at least he's one of Dallas's better forwards by shot-attempt differential.

Now that he's bumped his slump, the Stars have to be hoping the dam will burst in short order.
