Jets' Bryan Little helped off ice after blocking point-blank shot

John E Sokolowski / USA TODAY Sports

Winnipeg Jets forward Bryan Little required assistance leaving the ice Friday against the Boston Bruins after blocking a Carl Soderberg shot from point-blank range.

He appeared to be in significant pain as he slid on the ice favoring the inside of his knee, and was unable to get back to his feet without the help of his linemates.

The Jets announced before the start of the third frame Little would not return due to a lower-body injury.

Paul Maurice didn't provide a specific update on Little's status after the contest, but expressed optimism he might not miss an extended period of time.

Little, 27, plays big minutes in all situations for the Jets and is second among all Jets forwards in time on ice per game. In 25 contests he has totaled eight goals and 15 points.
