Columbus Blue Jackets pivot and true-blue American boy Brandon Dubinsky has something to be extra thankful for this year: his return to the ice.

"Not much fun shooting on an empty net for five weeks," Dubinsky, who has spent the season rehabbing from a surgical procedure on his abdominal area in late September, tweeted Thursday. "Great feeling getting back on the ice with the boys in a real practice."

Dubinsky also took time to wish a happy Thanksgiving to his fans and their loved ones. "Fill up your tank today! #gonnabefull #leftoversarethebest," Dubinsky tweeted.

The 28-year-old Blue Jackets alternate captain is apparently going to spend his Thanksgiving at a team dinner hosted by Blue Jackets defender and self-appointed fashion consultant James Wisniewski. And he's bringing the green bean casserole:

Yum!

We can only hope Dubinsky doesn't eat so much that he re-injures his core.
