2007 - Martin Brodeur becomes all-time leader in minutes played

New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur becomes the NHL's all-time leader in minutes played, surpassing Patrick Roy in a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins.

The 37-year-old reaches 60,280 minutes that night, and continues playing into the 2013-14 season to eclipse the 74,000-minute mark.

Brodeur is also the league's all-time leader in wins and shutouts.

1984 - Lemieux scores first career hat trick

Alain, that is.

Mario's older and slightly less successful brother, Alain Lemieux, scores his first NHL hat trick, leading the St. Louis Blues to a 6-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

Alain plays parts of seven seasons, splitting time between the Blues and Quebec Nordiques before playing his final NHL game with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1987 as brother Mario sat out with injury.

He finishes his career having scored 28 goals and 72 points in 119 games.
