Shannon Szabados becomes first woman to win an SPHL game

Team Canada's Shannon Szabados who led Canada to two Olympic gold medals with the women's hockey team has made history in the Southern Professional Hockey League on Friday.

Szabados, goaltender for the Columbus Cottonmouths, stopped 34 shots and brought the team through overtime (5-4) recording the league's first win by a female goaltender.

The game featured a total of 94 penalty minutes, including a match penalty, two game misconducts, two inciting an opponent penalties and a slash in the last minute of overtime.

Szabados was the first star of the game and stopped all seven shots in overtime.
