Blackhawks' Sharp placed on long-term IR, 'no change' to his status

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed forward Patrick Sharp on long-term injured reserve, but he won't miss any more time than originally expected.

The Blackhawks announced the move Friday, then stated the forward won't be sidelined for any additional time.

As if that wasn't enough, they provided one more clarification later in the morning.

Sharp has not played since leaving a game against the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 4 with an apparent leg injury.

He was expected to miss three-to-four weeks, which would put him on track for a return in early-to-mid-December.

21-year-old forward Phillip Danault was recalled from the AHL's Rockford IceHogs in a corresponding move.
