Hurricanes' Semin expected to be healthy scratch Saturday vs. Coyotes

Carolina forward Alex Semin is not expected to play Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes, according to Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters.

Semin was benched in Tuesday's loss to the Vancouver Canucks after taking an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the third period.

"He'd played enough," Peters said after the game. "I don't think we need to take undisciplined penalties when we are trying to dig out of a hole, right? You're in a hole. Quit digging."

Forwards Patrick Dwyer and Nathan Gerbe will return from their respective injuries on Saturday.

Semin has two points in eight games this season.
