Report: Blue Jackets' Jenner expected to return next week

Greg Bartram / USA TODAY Sports

There's a glimmer of hope amid all the injury pestilence that the Columbus Blue Jackets are currently trudging through.

The Blue Jackets can expect key top-six forward Boone Jenner to return to action shortly, according to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet:

Jenner spent much of last season on the wing, but played in the middle of the ice throughout his junior hockey career. There will be some skepticism about whether Jenner has the foot speed to hold down an everyday slot as an NHL pivot, but considering the Blue Jackets' injury issues – centermen Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov and Mark Letestu are all on the shelf currently – expect him to start there upon his return.
