1943 - Maple Leafs prospect makes instant impact

Toronto Maple Leafs center Gus Bodnar sets an NHL record for the fastest goal by a rookie in his NHL debut when he scores 15 seconds into his first game, a 5-2 victory over the New York Rangers.

Bodnar registers 62 regular-season points in his rookie season, winning the Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie.

He spends four more seasons with the Maple Leafs, winning two Stanley Cups.

1975 - Bucyk nets 500

Boston Bruins legend Johnny Bucyk scores the 500th goal of his career in a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues.

The 40-year-old becomes the seventh player to hit the 500-goal plateau, beating goaltender Yves Belanger in the first period.

Bucyk finishes his career with 556 regular-season goals and 813 assists, adding 41 goals and 62 assists in 124 playoff games.
