Lightning's Stamkos was 'tentative' coming back from broken leg last season

When Steven Stamkos broke his leg last November, not only was his season on hold, so was his Olympic bid.

The Tampa Bay Lightning forward worked relentlessly with trainer Gary Roberts to give him a chance at getting back into the lineup before the Olympic games.

Stamkos was named to Canada's Olympic team, but decided on Feb. 5 he would not join the team. With all the preparation to get him back into game shape, Stamkos seemed confident he would be able to go to Sochi for the Olympic Games, and when he didn't he took some more time off before making his NHL return.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported an opposing player told him Stamkos wasn't 100 percent comfortable making a comeback from his broken leg last season.

"He was tentative coming back from his injury last year. He’s not worried about it anymore."
