Rangers coach: 'It would take a lot' to keep Girardi out of lineup

Dan Girardi will play Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils if New York Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault has his way.

While officially listed as a game-time decision after suffering a serious cut from a blocked shot Sunday, Girardi may not be able to avoid being called upon by his coach.

"It's a game-time decision ... but it would take a lot to keep him out of the lineup," Vigneault said.

Girardi later declared himself ready to play.

In six games this season, Girardi recorded one assist, 12 hits and 16 blocked shots with a minus-one rating.
