VIDEO: Bruins' Spooner uses impressive speed, quick hands to open scoring in preseason game

Boston Bruins forward Ryan Spooner appears ready for a shot at a full-time NHL job following two impressive AHL seasons, and the goal he scored early in Tuesday's preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens should help solidify his case.

Spooner pounced on a careless pass by Nikita Scherbak and accelerated around Greg Pateryn before putting the puck past Canadiens goalie Dustin Tokarski 1:17 into the contest:

Boston coach Claude Julien called Spooner's goal "a step in the right direction" but stressed he still has work to do in his own zone:

Spooner recorded 103 points in 108 AHL games over the last two seasons and added 11 assists in 23 NHL contests last season, but has yet to score in a regular-season game.
