Lightning's Drouin misses beginning of camp with 'upper-body injury'

The Tampa Bay Lightning are looking to get highly regarded prospect forward Jonathan Drouin in their lineup, but they may not get a long look at him during the preseason.

Drouin sustained an injury during the rookie tournament, but head coach Jon Cooper says it's nothing to worry about.

"He played three games in the rookie tournament, and he’s grinded it out. He got nicked up a little bit, and the one thing is that, this is by no means serious," Cooper told the Tampa Tribune. "We expect he’ll be back next week at some point."

Drouin missed time last season with a concussion after a hit from behind in the QMJHL. Drouin and the Lightning are hoping for a healthy season, and Cooper believes this upper body injury won't have much of a long-term effect.

"It was a freak thing, so there is no alarm," Cooper said.
