Flyers' Giroux out 2 weeks with lower-body injury

Eric Hartline / USA TODAY Sports

This is not how the Philadelphia Flyers envisioned their start to camp.

Just 15 minutes into the team's first skate, captain and leading scorer Claude Giroux suffered a lower-body injury that will sideline him for two weeks, per the team's website

Philadelphia is still awaiting word regarding the injury's extent, but did reveal that the ailment was suffered on the ice Friday.

From general manager Ron Hextall:

This just happened today. Its the first day of camp and guys go 100 miles per hour and things happen. Obviously its not the way you want to start. That's the hand we were dealt and we're going to deal with it.
