Forward Jaden Schwartz was noticeably absent as St. Louis Blues training camp got underway Thursday. General manager Doug Armstrong addressed the ongoing negotiations, then vowed to keep mum on the process until a new deal is reached.

"We've had dialogue recently," Armstrong told the Post-Dispatch. "But I don't know when he's going to be here. He's not here today, I don't expect him here tomorrow. I think the thing that's probably best for the process now is to keep that between Jaden's representative and myself. The next time I'll talk publicly about Jaden will be when we sign him."

Armstrong added, "When we get a contract done with him, he can work his way back into that group. But right now it's focus on the guys that are here."

Schwartz, 22, scored 25 goals and added 31 assists in 80 games last season, adding a goal and two assists in six playoff games.
