Flyers' Kimmo Timonen expected to address playing future Thursday

Rob Grabowski / USA TODAY Sports

Kimmo Timonen is preparing to speak to the media Thursday afternoon in a press conference called by the Philadelphia Flyers.

In August, Timonen's NHL career was threatened when the 39-year-old was diagnosed with blood clots in both lungs and lower right leg.

His playing intentions are not yet known, but CSN's Tim Panaccio has reportedly learned that he will not announce his retirement.

Timonen has played in 1,092 NHL games over 15 seasons split between the Flyers and Nashville Predators. He represented Finland at the Olympic Games on five occasions, helping his country medal four times.
