Sharks' Sheppard expected to miss start of camp after knee surgery

John E. Sokolowski / USA TODAY Sports

James Sheppard is expected to miss the start of Sharks training camp, as the San Jose forward underwent knee surgery to repair an undisclosed injury.

As per David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News, "Details of the latest surgery or how the injury occurred were not available." What is known, however, is that the procedure took place on his left knee, already surgically repaired after a previous injury.

Sheppard signed a one-year, $1.3-million contract with the Sharks earlier this summer, after scoring four goals and adding 16 assists in 67 games with the club in 2013-14.
