Red Wings' DeKeyser 'anxious' over stalled contract negotiations

With every passing day, the prospect of Danny DeKeyser missing at least part of the Detroit Red Wings' training camp becomes more of a reality. The apparent stalemate in contract negotiations appears to be causing some angst for the 24-year-old.

"I'm kind of anxious," DeKeyser said, as per the Detroit Free Press. "Hopefully, something gets done soon, because camp is only a few days away."

General manager Ken Holland revealed DeKeyser and his agent have ruled out a one-year deal, and the young defenseman is likely seeking a considerable raise over the $925,000 salary he earned on his entry-level contract.

While DeKeyser maintains his belief that a deal will be reached before camp, Holland doesn't appear to be as worried as the young defenseman.

"I talked to his agent (Monday)," said Holland. "We'll talk again tomorrow. Either we'll find a solution before camp or we won't."

Fair enough.
