Bourque, Price give Canadiens 2-0 series lead on road vs. Lightning

Kim Klement / USA Today

A pair of goals by Rene Bourque and a near-shutout from Carey Price lifted the visiting Montreal Canadiens to a 2-0 series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 4-1 victory in Game 2 on Friday.

Bourque had not scored two goals in a game since Feb. 2, 2013, but he recorded the eventual game-winner midway through the second period and capped Montreal's scoring on a wraparound with 5:21 remaining in the third.

Bourque used his size to plow between the Tampa Bay defensemen and finished around a poke-checking Anders Lindback for his first goal:

Lindback was pulled after Brendan Gallagher scored at 11:46 of the third period and Bourque scored his second of the contest against rookie netminder Kristers Gudlevskis.

Price stopped 26 of 27 shots. Teddy Purcell spoiled Price's shutout bid on a power play with 1:59 remaining in the third period.

David Desharnais opened the scoring for the Canadiens, who will host Games 3 and 4 at Bell Centre on Sunday and Tuesday. Despite its favorable position in the series, Montreal should be mindful of its recent history: the last three times the Canadiens took a 2-0 lead on the road, they lost the series.
