The Philadelphia Flyers could be without the services of Scott Hartnell to start the playoffs after Hartnell was ejected on Sunday for spearing Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Bellemore.
The infraction occurred after a whistle 13:09 into the third period. Hartnell appeared to drive the blade of his stick into Bellemore's midsection, sparking a scrum between the two teams.

Hartnell was assessed a major and a game misconduct for spearing, while Bellemore received a slashing penalty and Hurricanes defensman Ron Hainsey was called for roughing in the ensuing scrum.
Hartnell was suspended two games in November of 2007 for an illegal hit - his only previous suspension with Philadelphia.
