Islanders GM Garth Snow on losing John Tavares to Olympic injury: 'It's a joke'

John Tavares' NHL season appears to be over after suffering an apparent knee injury at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and New York Islanders general manager Garth Snow has made it known that he's quite displeased about losing his star forward.

Snow added "It wouldn't matter if we were 10 points up on a playoff spot or 10 points out. We lost our best player and he wasn't playing for us."

This situation is sure to be as Exhibit A by NHL owners in any argument as to why the players should not appear at any future Olympics. In the immediate future, the Islanders, already staring in the face of another disappointing season will now be forced to endure the rest of the season without their best player.
