The Colorado Avalanche thought they defeated the New York Islanders 4-2 on Saturday, but they were actually given an additional goal after it was ruled Thomas Vanek threw his stick with the Islanders' net empty for an extra attacker.
Tonight's final score was actually 5-2 as the #Avs were awarded a late goal as Thomas Vanek threw his stick with an empty-net behind him.
