Report: Avalanche looking for a defenseman in exchange for Parenteau

As the rumors have been squashed just as they were started, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post has said the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche never discussed a Rene Bourque and P.A. Parenteau trade.

Dater mentions the rumor that the Avalanche have interest from the Canadiens may be true. Instead of trading for a forward, Dater says the Avalanche are looking for a defenseman. Trading for a forward would not the best best way to get value out of a possible trade.

"P.A. Parenteau a healthy scratch. He hasn't been playing great, but Patrick Roy said this has something to do with the Avs having three games in four nights and giving P.A. some rest after missing three weeks. But there are some trade rumors involving Parenteau right now, with TVA Sports saying the Canadiens are interested. Can I see a deal happening? Sure, but only for a real good D-man. If the Avs traded him for a guy like Brian Gionta, that would be a bad deal." Adrian Dater via Sulia.com
