Highlights from the Rangers and Devils outdoor game at Yankee Stadium

The New York Rangers offence exploded for seven goals at Yankee Stadium, taking the New Jersey Devils task with a final score of 7-3 in the considerably more entertaining outdoor game this weekend.

The Rangers score six straight, chased Martin Brodeur from the next after two periods, and even score on a penalty shot. The Devils, meanwhile, gave up multiple 3-on-1s, and Jaromir Jagr passed Mario Lemieux on NHL's all-time assists lists, taking sole spot of 10th overall in front of 50,105 fans.

Pipers played the Rangers out of the dugout and onto the ice.

The game's start was delayed for 40-minutes because of glare on the ice, especially in the Rangers end which is roughly at 3rd base.

It was an extra 40 minutes for fans to wait in the 25-degree weather, which reportedly felt like 12 degrees (or -11 Celsius), which organizers thought would be subsided with a performance from Broadway's Jersey Boys.

To recap, Los Angeles got KISS, and New York had "Sherry Baby" to hype up fans before puck drop. And while we're on the subject, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes played the first intermission. Both might have missed their target audience.

We're easily distracted here, so back to hockey. The Devils replaced coach Peter DeBoer with Eddie Griswold, which may have explained the total lack of defense in the first and second period.

The Devils jumped out early to a 2-1 lead, but a four-goal second period from New York crushed any momentum the Devils had going.

The 7-3 score matched 2009's Winter Classic for most goals scored in an outdoor game.

But don't tell Brodeur, who let in six goals on 21 shots. It truly wasn't his fault - goals went in off of a Ranger player's skate, his team mate's stick and even off his own head.

Buried in the Rangers six-straight goals was Jagr's milestone moment. He went behind the net and got Henrik Lundqvist to bite and turned him around before feeding it back to Patrick Elias for the easy goal. It was pretty play that moved him into sole possession of 10th overall on the NHL's all-time assists list, passing Mario Lemieux.

But could you see it?

But where else could you see the Rangers in a dugout?

Or Mats Zuccarello in a bowler hat in the Yankees dressing room?

Or Jeremy Roenick getting a toque thrown at him? (Thank you, Rangers fans)

Only in New York.
