Report: Canucks expected to tryout veteran C Vinny Prospal

The Vancouver Canucks are currently without centermen Henrik Sedin and Mike Santorelli, and as such have a desperate need down the middle of their forward group. While former first round pick Jordan Schroeder is close to returning from injury, the team is clearly looking for more insurance.

As such the club is reportedly set to give Vaclav "Vinny" Prospal an extended look with their farm team. From Sportsnet broadcaster Dan Murphy:

Prospal managed 30 points in 48 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets a year ago, and has a history with Canucks head coach John Tortorella for whom he played in both Tampa Bay and New York.

The 38-year-old Prospal went unsigned this past summer, but was steadfast in his desire to get another look at the NHL level. "I still believe I am good enough to play in the NHL," Prospal told the Columbus Dispatch in October.
