Bryan Murray after extension: Senators open to deals, looking to win soon

The Ottawa Senators hosted a conference call to announce the contract extension for general manager Bryan Murray, where it was clearly reiterated that the team is looking to win a Stanley Cup prior to his exit from the position.

As such, Murray is open and willing to making some trades prior to the March 5 deadline, and called upon his hockey insider of choice to spread the word.

Murray further revealed the team is looking to add an impact forward.

Owner Eugene Melnyk also pointed to Murray's track record in drafting and developing players within the organization.

Murray added Lazar is not an option in terms of trades at present.

Expectations were relatively high for the Senators heading into this season; as of Jan. 13, they sat two points back of fourth place in the Atlantic Division and the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
