Report: P.K. Subban's asking price will be somewhere from $8-9 million a year

According to a report from TSN's Bob McKenzie, negotiations between reigning Norris Trophy winner P.K. Subban and the Montreal Canadiens on a contract extension are ongoing. Subban signed a two-year extension before the start of the lockout shortened 2013 NHL season, and is a pending restricted free-agent following this campaign.

McKenzie mentions that the lucrative contract extension Dion Phaneuf signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs might impact Subban's negotiations by setting the market. "Subban's asking price will be somewhere from $8 million to $9 million a year," McKenzie said. "I am sure the Canadiens will not be thrilled about that and I suspect it's going to be tough sledding for some time to get this deal done."
