New York Islanders center John Tavares will miss Saturday night's game against the New Jersey Devils, according to his head coach.
The New York Islanders will have star forward John Tavares in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Wild.
According to Arthur Staple of Newsday, the lower-body injury that kept him out of Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils was suffered on a hit by Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Radko Gudas in a game on Dec. 17.
Tavares is currently tenth in NHL scoring with 15 goals and 25 assists in 41 games.
John Tavares has been listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury by the New York Islanders, according to the team's official Twitter account.
However, it appears as though he may be able to suit up Saturday against the New Jersey Devils.
Tavares ranks tenth in NHL scoring with 13 goals and 26 assists in 38 games. He saw 19:33 of ice time during the Islanders' last game on Dec. 23 and registered one assist in a 3-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
