Wheeler on the Jets: 'We've been blowing smoke for three years'

The Winnipeg Jets are beginning to voice their frustrations after winning only two of their last six games and losing 6-4 to the Dallas Stars Saturday afternoon. The players are done with the typical 'one game at a time' responses, specifically Blake Wheeler.

"What I say doesn't matter, It’s what you do out on the ice. You can blow smoke as much as you want in the media. We’ve been blowing smoke for three years, everyone, myself, everyone that’s stood in front of a microphone in the last three years, we’ve said the same s--t. What do you want me to say? That’s about it. I don’t know what else to say." Quote via Tim Campbell

Like Wheeler, captain Andrew Ladd wasn't satisfied or content with the normal excuses. "It’s not my decision to make. But obviously something needs to change." When asked to compare Saturday's loss to other regular season losses, Ladd said "It’s the same thing over and over again for me, I’m not in the mood to rank it."

Head coach Claude Noel was asked about the teams recent play and mentioned they haven't played a decent game in a while.

"It’s a step back for sure, I haven’t seen us play this way in quite some time. Collectively as a group, we didn’t play very intelligent. What is that? Is that fatigue, mental fatigue? Sometimes it is. I don’t know what it is.We’re going to regroup from this game. We’re not going to get ourselves at an all-epic low and we’re going to try to keep a balance on things, regroup and start again." Quote via Tim Campbell

The Jets play the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday, and the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Hopefully they can figure something out for those games and won't have to blow any smoke.
