Bruins F Shawn Thornton apologizes for attack on Penguins D Brooks Orpik

Boston Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton addressed his brutal attack on Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik following Saturday night's game. 

Thornton, who was "near tears" while addressing the media according to CSNNE's Joe Haggerty, apologized profusely for his actions.  "I made a mistake," Thornton said. "I can't say I'm sorry enough times. That's all I can say right now."

Added the Bruins pugilist: "It was definitely awful. It's not what you want to see. It's not what anybody wants to see. I've felt sick all game."

Thornton also confirmed that he's got a scheduled hearing with the Department of Player Safety over the hit, though he didn't specify whether that hearing would be over the phone or in person:
