Panthers name Horachek interim head coach

The Florida Panthers have placed the interim tag on new head coach Peter Horachek.

General manager Dale Tallon offered praise for Horachek as well as new assistant coaches Brian Skrudland and John Madden in a statement:

“Peter is a bright hockey mind who brings to our club a wealth of coaching knowledge. He is a focused, determined and demanding coach who has experienced great success at all levels of competition. Both Brian and John are proven winners who won multiple Stanley Cups and are individuals that our players know very well. With these additions, we are confident that we have a staff that will work tirelessly to bring continued success to our organization.”

Horachek was previously the head coach of the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage, who are last in the league's West Division with a 4-6-0-1 record.
