Carter Ashton to have hearing on Friday for hit on Derek Smith

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Carter Ashton will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player safety on Friday for an incident involving Derek Smith of the Calgary Flames.

At 16:56 of the second period during Wednesday's 4-2 win by the Maple Leafs, Ashton received a two-minute boarding penalty for a hit on the Flames defenseman; Smith remained in the game after the hit.
