Jets D Tobias Enstrom tells Team Sweden he won't play in Sochi

While many NHL players are looking to put their best skate forward in an effort to be selected for their home country's Olympic team, one Swede has declined to participate months before the roster is finalized.

According to Allan Muir of Sports Illustrated, Olympic coach Per Marts told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that Enstrom called the other day to break the news. “(Enstrom) wanted to put all his time and energy [into the Jets] is how he put it,” Marts said. He added "All people are different. Not everyone has the same dreams, so maybe I’m not so much surprised."

Enstrom, 28, played for Sweden at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, and has also represented his country at the World Junior Hockey Championships and the World Championships.

In 14 games for the Jets this season, Enstrom has registered one goal and six assists.
