Lundqvist has not played since Oct. 19. In seven appearances this season, he has posted a record of 2-4-0 with a 3.45 goals against average and a .890 save percentage.

New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been ruled out of Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, but appears to be making progress and is targeting a Monday return.

According to Steve Zipay of Newsday, Lundqvist says his injury is improving but not as fast as he'd like, and the injury will be reassessed after Sunday's practice.

Monday's game against Montreal will be the team's home opener, adding extra incentive for Lundqvist.

With Henrik Lundqvist on the shelf nursing an undisclosed injury, New York Rangers goaltender Cam Talbot is set to make his NHL regular season debut on Thursday night when the Rangers face the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 26-year-old Talbot has posted consecutive above average seasons at the AHL level. Lundqvist won't dress as the back-up tonight, and as expected the Rangers have recalled big goalie Jason Missaien (who is listed at 6,8).

As if things weren't bad enough for the 2-5-0 New York Rangers, but now it appears as though star goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is dealing with some sort of injury.

Lundqvist appeared on the ice without his pads and was believed to be testing a new pair of skates, but then left the ice altogether.

Through seven games, Lundqvist has a record 2-4-0 with a 3.45 goals against average and a .890 save percentage.
